While they may have managed to slip under the Health Ministry’s radar up until this point, that will no longer be the case for the province’s youth.
As of today the provincial mask mandate, which had already covered residents aged 12 and up, has been expanded to cover those aged 5 to 11 as well.
Under the mandate residents will be required to mask up in all public indoor spaces in BC, including public transit and buses.
A mandate covering all students in schools from Kindergarten to Grade 12, as well as staff, was put in place last week.
As far as vaccinations are concerned, the province is expecting to hear more regarding youth dosage approval early next month, but will work to accelerate the rollout.
