Curbside collection of recycled goods in Kitimat is set to kick off in November.
It is the second phase of the District of Kitimat’s expanded curbside collection program, and aims to further save space, reduce emissions, and increase the lifespan of the landfill.
Items which can be recycled under the new program include: paper, cardboard, some empty aerosol cans, and plastic bottles, jugs, jars, trays, lids, and others.
Residents will be receiving blue recycling bins, and yellow reusable bags for paper items, as well as a recycling guide and calendar by the end of October.
Once collected, collected items will be sorted at the Landfill, before ultimately being recycled in Thornhill.
Recycling will be collected every other week on your regular collection day.
