Chief Murphy Abraham of the Lake Babine Nation has joined the list of Indigenous officials demanding access to Covid boosters.
Last week, the Wet’suwet’en issued a request for boosters in light of an on-going outbreak on their territory.
Not long after, the Carrier Sekani Tribal Council joined in support of their request, and the BCAFN issued a letter requesting immediate access for all First Nations.
Many Indigenous communities are being hit hard by the fourth wave, and the smaller nature of their communities leads to faster spread.
For the Wet’suwet’en, four matriarchs had already tested positive when the request was issued, and they are concerned the arrival of boosters may come too late.
According to the Nation, officials pegged the estimated arrival time at early next year.
