More than 4,000 health care workers across BC could soon find themselves out of work.
A Provincial health order requiring all health care workers in the province to be vaccinated against Covid-19 took effect today.
Excluding long-term care and assisted living homes, who are covered under their own mandate, the province employs over 126 thousand health care workers.
Of those, just 4,090 are unvaccinated, and just over 2,600 are partially vaccinated.
Further breaking down the numbers, 1,369 of the unvaccinated individuals are employed in the Interior Health region, or 7 percent of the total in that Authority, the highest of any Authority on both fronts.
In the North, 5 percent of health care workers are unvaccinated, the second most of any Authority.
Unvaccinated workers have until November 15th to get at least one jab, or risk their future employment.
