Last Thursday marked the 100 year anniversary of Smithers becoming the first incorporated village in British Columbia.
To honour the momentous occasion, a plaque is set to be hung at Town Hall, alongside a framed copy of the “Letters Patent”.
In the announcement, the Town also gave a mention to the 100 year long cooperation with the Wet’suwet’en, and the Gidimt’en Clan, for who’s unceded territory the town still calls home.
Smithers officially became a town in 1967, and has continued to modernize ever since.
