Terrace City Council will be sending letters of support for two organizations and members of Council to two committees.
During yesterday’s regular meeting, councilors opted to send a letter to the Federal and Provincial Governments in favour of a Federally run school food program.
According to a presentation from the Coalition for Healthy School Food, Canada is the only G7 nation not to already have one.
Costs would be split between the province and Ottawa.
Council will also be sending a letter in support of Kermodei Tourism’s application for 40 thousand dollars in grant funding.
Funding would come from the Northern Development Initiative Trust and would support their Destination Terrace plan to revamp tourism in the City.
Additionally, Council voted to appoint Sean Bujtas and James Cordeiro as Directors of the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine.
Lynne Christiansen and Dave Gordon will serve as alternates.
Councilor Bujtas was also selected to represent Council on the Social Issues Advocacy Committee, along with Councilor Christiansen.
