Across the third quarter of 2021, the Terrace Fire Department responded to 218 calls, up from 134 over the same time last year.
First responder calls were the main culprit in the jump, going from 27 in 2020 to 74 this year over the same time.
Fire Chief John Klie says this increase is likely due to Covid restrictions loosening, allowing them to attend calls alongside paramedics once more.
Covid also had a strong impact on the amount of training hours for the Department, going from just 298 in the third quarter of last year, to 1,527 this year.
