With the Nation currently facing 19 confirmed active cases of Covid-19, the Nisga’a Lisims Government has decided to pause all social cultural gatherings in the Nass Valley.
Initially recommended by the Nisga’a Valley Health Authority, the Nation approved the 3 week pause at yesterday’s NLG meeting.
The pause will take effect tomorrow, and run through November 19th, though it could be extended, depending on case numbers at that time.
According to the Health Authority, the spike in cases since the beginning of the month is due largely to large cultural gatherings acting as super-spreader events.
In addition to the 19 active cases, there are still 34 pending test results in the Valley.
