A month ago, Terrace City council announced their intent to raise property taxes in the City by 5.52 percent.
That proposed increase would be the largest year-over-year increase the City has seen in the past 10 years.
The majority of the increases come from staffing needs at various municipal services, though additional clerk positions with the RCMP and City Services were turned down by Council.
Those would have led to an additional 1.4 percent increase.
Public consultations are required before the increase can be finalized for next year, and the City is currently asking for input.
Sewage fees for next year are also set to go up by 5 percent, while water usage taxes will see a 3 percent jump.
Prior to last year, those fees hadn’t seen an increase in more than a decade.
