Health Canada has officially approved Pfizer’s Covid vaccine booster for use in all residents aged 18 and older.
Recent studies have revealed that, while still the most effective form of protection, the effectiveness of Covid vaccines can fade over time.
Booster shots are used to ensure consistent protection against the virus, and are to be administered at least 6 months after receiving the second dose of vaccine.
Elderly, Indigenous, and high-risk populations in BC had already been approved for the boosters, and some have begun receiving them.
Booster shots are not required for proof of vaccination, or the province’s vaccine card program, as of yet.
