A drug trafficking investigation launched in Smithers and Houston in June has led to the seizure of multiple weapons and drugs.
Initially, members of the Smithers RCMP Crime Reduction Unit focused their investigation on a home on the 3900 block of Gilbert Road.
During surveillance at said home, officers noticed numerous vehicles stopping outside the residence for very short periods of time.
Police then acquired a warrant to search the home, where they found a firearm, ammunition, cash, and suspected cocaine.
Later in the summer, police commenced another investigation in to a residence on the 7000 block of Dieter Road.
There, they discovered a large quantity of a number of illicit drugs believed to be fentanyl, cocaine, and meth, as well as a loaded firearm, ammunition, and a crossbow.
Several individuals have been arrested as a result of the effort, though charges are still pending.
