During the weekend, the Tk’emlúps te Secwe̓pemc First Nation was holding an election to decide who would be their chief for the next three years and once again, it will be Roseanne Casimir.
This will be Casimir’s second term as chief, as she was voted in during the previous election as well.
Casimir received 245 out of a possible 475 ballots.
The Tk’emlúps te Secwe̓pemc had the spotlight shined on them earlier in the year when what people believe to be 200 unmarked graves were discovered close to the site of a former residential school nearby Kamloops.
