Terrace Search and Rescue was called upon to rescue a driver who got stuck trying to climb Sleeping Beauty Mountain last Friday.
Team lead Dave Jephson says the F-350 pick up wasn’t quite up to the task and the driver wound up stranded on the mountain for some time before help arrived.
The vehicle was about an hour from the bottom when crews arrived, and had the driver, who was suffering from minor injuries, transferred to Mills for assessment.
Jephson noted the road is treacherous at best, but combine it with a mix of snow, ice and slush and top it off with washouts and you have a disaster waiting to happen.
Because the road wasn’t accessible to large SAR vehicles, the team had to crawl up the mountain in a smaller pick up.
No word on the fate of the F-350.
