Health Minister Adrian Dix provided an update today on how the on-going pandemic is impacting the health care industry.
Currently there are just over 125 thousand workers employed in the industry by the province, and 97 percent of them are fully vaccinated.
That means 2,885 health care workers remain unvaccinated, with 942 full time, 774 part time, and 974 casual employees, with the remainder listed as unknown.
For patients, 9,137 of the province’s 11,582 acute care beds are currently full, while 459 of 728 critical care beds are occupied.
To date 123 critical care patients have been transferred out of Northern Health to other authorities, the majority of which are unvaccinated.
Between November 7th and the 13th, a total of 174 non-urgent surgeries were postponed in BC.
3 of those come from Northern Health, while 82 come from Interior Health following a string of hospital-based Covid outbreaks.
It isn’t all bad news though, as surgeries are increasing at a number of hospitals in the Northeast.
