Someone may be attempting to impersonate an RCMP officer in Kitimat, and the actual RCMP are understandably concerned.
On Friday, police received a suspicious report from a woman who had been walking along Gyrfalcon Avenue.
According to the woman, a dark coloured SUV pulled over behind her and honked to grab her attention.
A male, who was dressed similarly to an RCMP officer exited the vehicle and asked to search her bag, before handing it back and telling her she could go.
Nothing was added or removed from the bag, and police are now looking for the suspect.
He is described as 5 foot 11 inches tall, with a heavy set build, brown eyes, with a scar above his left eye.
The man was wearing a blue face mask, red hat and gloves, a dark blue jacket and pants, a utility belt with no weapons, a vest which looked similar to a bullet proof vest emblazened with the word ‘Officer’, and a crestless RCMP patch.
