Twenty individuals arrested during an RCMP injunction enforcement on Wet’suwet’en territory last week will stand trial today.
In total, 14 Gidimt’en land defenders were arrested during the first day of the enforcement last Thursday.
8 of them have since been released on conditions, while 5 refused to sign their undertakings and will be among the 20 in Prince George today.
Another 11 individuals were arrested the following day as officers breached Coyote Camp, and eventually the Tiny House.
Four more arrests were made as police made their way back down the Morice Forest Service Road, bringing the day’s total to 15.
According to a release from the Gidimt’en, the proposed release conditions included restricting their return to their territory around the Morice Forest Service Road.
RCMP say that the road is now clear for Coastal GasLink to access, but that the Access Control Point will remain in place.
Injunction enforcement began after Gidimt’en land defenders at the Coyote Camp issued CGL employees an eviction notice, prior to setting up the now destroyed blockades.
