Nasty weather is causing serious problems in Prince Rupert at the moment.
A container ship has been trapped in the harbour for some time after the strong winds and rough waters broke the vessel’s lines.
Now, a number of tugboats from Saam Smit Towage are attemtping to regain control of the vessel, with the Coast Guard standing by.
On top of that, the drastic wind is causing problems for many residents, as reports of objects blowing through the streets are running rampant, including some of downed power lines.
The boat is already starting to list, and crews think they could be in for a rough night attempting to secure the vessel.
According to some residents, one such object happens to be a portion of the hospital roof which was blown free.
Residents are advised to avoid the roads, and remain indoors if at all possible, until the weather settles down.
A wind warning has been issued by Environment Canada, with winds expected to gust as high as 110 km/h in to the night.
