An online auction planned for next week looks to raise additional funds for a new emergency building in Kitwanga.
At the moment, emergency services are run out of an aging single-bay building, which houses the community’s ambulance.
But, the Kitwanga Community Association have been lobbying for a larger building for years, and it is becoming more urgent as they pass.
A new building would feature a second bay to allow a space for a firetruck as well.
Approximately 120 thousand of an estimated 1 million dollar price tag for a new building has been raised through fundraising efforts to date.
A further 5 thousand in grant funding has been provided by Seabridge Gold, and Pretivm Resources recently offered to match the 120 thousand, once full funding is acquired.
This year’s online auction will kick off this Saturday and run through the following Saturday.
The auction will be run through the Kitwanga and Area Facebook page, linked here.
