UPDATE:
Vanderhoof RCMP have arrested a suspect following a shooting incident which put the entire community on lockdown.
Just after noon today, witnesses reported seeing a man approach the RCMP detachment with a long gun prior to hearing gunfire.
As a result, the entire community was put on lockdown as officers searched for the suspect.
Officers have now apprehended the suspect and notified the community that it is safe to return to normal activities.
No injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.

Vanderhoof is currently under a community-wide lockdown prompted by an active shooter.
Just after noon today, witnesses reported seeing a man approach the RCMP detachment with a firearm, before hearing gunfire.
Shortly afterwards, the lockdown was issued, asking residents to remain locked inside their homes or find a safe place to shelter.
Both Nechako Valley Secondary and WL McLeod Elementary have also been put on lockdown.
Officers believe the perpetrator to be driving a white Ford Pick-up Truck with an extended cab.
Frontline officers, as well as specialized units, have been deployed, and residents are asking not to post any videos revealing police tactics or locations.
If you see the vehicle, or the suspect, you are asked not to interact with or approach them, but to instead call 9-1-1 immediately.
