Stikine MLA Nathan Cullen will meet with a group of Gitxsan Hereditary Chiefs who issued him an evictio notice last week.
Members of the Gitxsan Huwilp Government posted the notice on Cullen’s Hazelton office, citing a failure to protect his constituents.
They say the MLA failed to protect Wet’suwet’en land defenders and supporters during a militarized RCMP injunction enforcement earlier this month.
Last week, police were also present at a blockade set up by Gitxsan members in solidarity with the Wet’suwet’en, which saw one arrest made.
In addition, the Chiefs say the eviction notice is also extended to all corporations on their land which seek to poison it.
Now, Cullen says he will be speaking with the Chiefs this week, and is confident they can come to an understanding which will allow him to continue to work in the area.
