Apartment Fire in Kitimat Leads to Overnight Evacuation

A fire in a Kitimat apartment last night led to the evacuation of the entire building.

Late yesterday afternoon, fire crews responded to the blaze at Sandpiper Apartments on Banyay Avenue.

Crews managed to contain the fire to one unit on the fourth floor, though the entire building was evacuated as a precaution.

Residents were evacuated due to risk of smoke inhalation, and were placed in hotel rooms overnight.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
