Stikine MLA Nathan Cullen has asked the head of the RCMP to launch a review in to actions taken which ultimately led to his eviction from Gitxsan territory last week.
In a letter penned to Commissioner Brenda Lucki, Cullen notes two reasons for requesting the review.
The first references a pair of arrests made during a Gitxsan blockade in solidarity with the Wet’suwet’en.
Last week, a video began circulating online showing those arrests, which Cullen says display the officers using undue force.
But Cullen also references the injunction enforcement on Wet’suwet’en territory, if not by name.
In his letter, Cullen says he wishes to bring up concerns brought up in recent meetings with his constituents over force used by RCMP during the enforcement action addressing protests.
After acknowledging his responsibilities as MLA, and the RCMP’s prior efforts to come to other resolutions, Cullen asks Lucki to personally review the actions during the two enforcements.
