Hospitals in BC are finally beginning to see some relief, though beds remain packed across the province.
According to an update from Minister Adrian Dix, 9,335 of the province’s 11,582 total acute care beds are currently full, though 2,353 of those are additional surge beds.
In terms of Critical Care, 465 of an available 728 beds are currently full, with 218 of those being added surge beds.
Between December 5th and the 11th, 114 non-urgent scheduled surgeries in BC were postponed, with 4 in Northern Health, and 80 in the Interior.
A total of 153 patients have now been transferred from Northern Health to other Authorities, with 118 of them testing positive for Covid.
Dix also announced that the province is expecting to be receiving at-home rapid Covid tests from the Federal government by late January.
Once received, the province plans to make the tests available to residents free of charge.
