In a turn of events we all saw coming with the emergence of the Omicron variant, BC is introducing new Covid measures for the holidays.
Dr Bonnie Henry announced the new restrictions today, which will take effect on Monday, and remain in place through the end of January.
Personal indoor gatherings will be restricted to 10 individuals, or one additional household, so long as all are aged 12 or older and fully vaccinated.
BC Vaccine Cards will be required for organized events of all sizes.
All restaurant patrons must remain seated, and not mingle with other parties, and be masked while leaving your seat.
Any venue with a capacity of over 1,000 is limited to 50 percent of seated capacity, and patrons must remain seated unless necessary.
All organized New Year’s Eve events will be restricted to seated-only events, with no mingling or dancing allowed, while private New Year’s parties and events must be cancelled entirely.
All sports tournaments and related events must be paused or cancelled while the order is in place.
In addition, retail stores are being asked to have an emergency plan in place for Boxing Sale shoppers, and residents are advised to restrict personal gatherings to only vaccinated individuals.
