The price tag for the new Mills Memorial Hospital looks like it may be going up once again.
Earlier this year, approved costs of the project construction went from 450 million to 622 million dollars, which was believed to be a final figure.
However, Northern Health has since decided to upgrade the facility from a tier 2 to a tier 3 neonatal facility to improve before and after birth care.
In addition to adding necessary equipment and staffing, the upgrade would also bring the maternity and gynecology bed count up to 5 from 3, and add one more labour room bed, bringing the total to 4.
In November, PCL Construction estimated the cost of the upgrade at 14.5 million dollars.
It is unclear at this time how Northern Health plans to come up with the additional sum.
