I was able to sit with a very humble an interesting young man named William Magnus Lulua. He played the main character in Portraits from a Fire.
Portraits From a Fire is a universal story which explores how intergenerational trauma affects a family. It is also about how an unravelling family secret can destabilize a young boy’s heart, and at what lengths he will go to seek comfort. This story follows a teenage Indigenous boy exploring how his self-blame, his confusion, and his frustration, which ultimately lead to the continuation of the cycle of trauma that had directly impacted his parents–unless a mysterious energy can help him stop it. You can now find this amazing film on On demand. You will not be disappointed … great film the whole family can watch!
