More surgical delays are on the way for BC, though that’s something the North has become used to lately.
Yesterday, the province announced plans to postpone all non-urgent scheduled surgeries in BC beginning on January 4th.
The move is an effort to give hospitals a chance to recover and manage the pressures on capacity through redeployment of key staff.
Urgent and emergency surgeries will continue unimpeded.
Rescheduling of surgeries will be done through continuous monitoring of capacity and Covid impacts throughout January, on a regional basis.
Last week, there were 92 scheduled non-urgent surgeries postponed in BC, with 6 in the North and 77 in the Interior.
