Prince Rupert RCMP are asking for public assistance in their efforts to identify a fraudster.
In late September, the man in question used a fraudulent 50 dollar bill to pay for his purchase at the Belmont Liquor Store.
In return, the man not only made off with his free alcohol, but also with legitimate change handed over in the transaction.
Staff didn’t realize the bill was fraudulent until days later.
Businesses are reminded to always inspect bills for security features such as holograms, raised print, and see through windows, and to report counterfeit bills to police.
If you have any information that may help police in their investigation, you can contact Prince Rupert RCMP at 250 624 2136.
