Environment Canada is calling for some rough weather this holiday weekend, issuing a slew of extreme temperature warnings.
On the Northcoast an arctic outflow warning is in effect for both inland and coastal areas.
For the Coast near Prince Rupert and even south to Bella Coola, that means temperatures between -20 and -25 after windchill, and frigid winds up to 100 km/h.
Inland sections around Terrace and Kitimat can expect temperatures to drop below -30 with windchill factored in, and winds up to 60 km/h.
Dease Lake is facing an extreme cold warning, with temperatures expected to hit -45.
An extreme cold warning is in effect for both the Bulkley Valley and Lakes District, and the Cariboo, with windchill values hitting the -40s overnight.
With the exception of the Dease Lake warning, which is expected to end Monday, all are predicted to last through the remainder of December.
Residents are reminded that both humans and animals can catch frostbite in less than 5 minutes if skin is left exposed in temperatures below -40 after windchill.
