530 non-urgent scheduled surgeries in BC were postponed between January 2nd and the 8th.
Late last year, the province announced they would be delaying all non-urgent surgeries beginning on January 4th, due to the overwhelming of the health care system.
Of the postponed surgeries, 3 were in Northern Health, while 162 were from the Interior.
Since September 5th of last year, 4,278 non-urgent surgeries in BC have been delayed, though the majority have now been completed.
Minister Adrian Dix says that all surgeries will be performed, and that they are doing everything they can to get them done.
Of the 11,582 available acute care hospital beds in BC, 9,401 of them are currently full.
In Critical Care, 464 of the available 728 beds are currently taken.
