Housing prices in Northern BC hit new highs in December thanks to a combination of high sales, and less listings.
Real estate prices in BC have been soaring since the start of the pandemic, and the trend is continuing, according to the BC Northern Real Estate Board.
In 2021 as a whole, the Board saw 6701 property sales, just below 2006’s record, worth 2.4 billion dollars.
Average sale prices in Northern BC jumped from 325 thousand dollars in 2020, to nearly 383 thousand last year.
In December, the average sale price in Terrace was 467 thousand dollars, just beating out Prince George’s 457 thousand average for the highest in the North.
Prince Rupert, Smithers, and 100 Mile House were the only other areas to break the 400 thousand dollar average, while Kitimat tails at 385 thousand.
Every single area saw a price increase over last year.
