Most Local Health Areas in the North saw a jump in Covid cases last week, but if you’ve been watching trends that will come as no surprise.
Terrace jumped to 109 cases last week from just 10 the week before, Prince Rupert went to 72 cases from 8, Kitimat climbed to 63 cases from 44, and Haida Gwaii went from one case to 27.
Smithers paced the Northwest with 196 cases up from 55 two weeks ago, Burns Lake went from just 2 cases to 31 this week, and the Upper Skeena went from 10 to 26 new cases.
In the East, the Peace North and South saw 78 and 50 cases respectively, Prince George lead the North with 402, and Quesnel saw 57.
Cumulatively, this week’s new cases pushed Prince Rupert past the 1,000 case threshold, and Kitimat and Burns Lake past 500.
Terrace and Smithers lead the Northwest in cumulative cases, sitting at 1,645 and 1,254, respectively.
