A new team has been launched by the Northern Society for Domestic Peace in order to give around the clock support to sexual assault victims.
After receiving some funding from the Ending Violence Association of BC, the NSDP has put together a unit known as the Emergency Sexual Assault Services team and they will be providing 24 hours a day support to people victimized by sexual assault in Hazelton, Smithers, Houston and other surrounding towns.
This team will also be working with several other systems that provide the same service of fighting against any and all kinds of sexual abuse in order to increase their effectiveness of stopping said crimes.
Some of the main methods that the ESAS team employs to help these victims include both meeting clients in-person or talking to them over the phone and even going with clients to medical appointments.
ESAS will also be conducting a survey from the experiences of survivors to make sure that these systems in place to stop these crimes, are as effective as humanly possible.
