A proposed LNG facility in the Northwest is finally preparing for site preparation, scheduled to begin this year.
In September of last year, the BC Oil and Gas Commission granted a facilities permit to Port Edward LNG, allowing them to begin early prep work.
Now, thanks to a new contract with Pacific Northern Gas, the micro-LNG project finally has a source from which to make its product as well.
That contract will see Port Edward build a feeder line to the PNG pipeline to provide 150,000 metric tonnes of LNG for cooling.
Once cooled, the product will be sold to customers in Asia, through the Port of Prince Rupert.
Site prep work is expected to begin early this year, and payments will begin rolling in to PNG in December, regardless of the site’s progress.
