An affordable housing project in Kitimat has checked its final bureaucratic box, after its bylaw received final adoption last night.
District Councillors already agreed to sign a related housing agreement agreement at a previous meeting.
That agreement looks to allow the building of up to 40 new, purpose-built, affordable housing units.
To be operated by the Tamatik Status of Women Association, the project would be built on the front portion of 461 Qautsino Boulevard, once a building permit is acquired.
It aims to see 20 long-term affordable units, 12 second stage housing units for women and children, and up to 18 transition housing beds.
Funding for the project will come from the Affordable Housing Fund, and will total 500,000 dollars.
