Pre-engineering and geoscience students at Coast Mountain College will soon have access to new financial support.
A new scholarship is set to be offered, thanks to an initiative led, in part, by instructor Stuart Toop, through the Engineers and Geoscientists BC Northern Branch.
That scholarship would aim to help fund the studies of Northern BC students, and retain their skills in the region, post-graduation.
Currently, the EGBCNB is undergoing fundraising efforts, and hopes to raise 10,000 dollars this year.
Their goal is to make an annual scholarship of 1,000 dollars available to award each year.
Indigenous students will be prioritized for the scholarship, in an effort to eliminate barriers to pursuing a career in the engineering and geoscience fields.
