CityWest has handed the City of Prince Rupert a cheque for 800,000 dollars.
Said funds were provided via a distribution payment to the City, as the telecommunication company’s sole shareholder.
That funding total represents a 100,000 dollar increase over their 2020 payment, and 200,000 more than the year before.
In addition, the company informed the City that they have increased staffing by 33 percent, in preparation for service expansion in the coming years.
Their Connected Coast project will see a 3,400 km subsea fibre line connect communities along the coastline.
In addition, they have formed numerous partnerships with communities and First Nations, which will see a portion of profits invested back in to the community.
Since 2005, the company has provided nearly 10 million dollars in dividends and distribution payments, and a further 2 million in taxes and levies.
