Prince Rupert’s youngest councillor ever will not be running for re-election.
When he was initially elected to council in 2014, Blair Mirau, became the youngest councillor in the City’s history at just 24.
He was re-elected in the 2018 municipal election, with his name appearing on more than 3 quarters of ballots.
But, Mirau announced yesterday that he would be joining Mayor Lee Brain on the municipal sidelines in October.
Brain announced he would not be running for re-election last month.
Mirau will remain on council to serve out the rest of his term, through to the October 15th election.
