A Haida Gwaii elementary school is apologizing after a science lesson from last month prompted public outrage.
That lesson, which took place at Tahayghen (Daxiigan) Elementary School, reportedly saw multiple rabbits killed and dissected in front of students.
In a letter issued to parents by the school on February 1st, Principal Sarah Finnie offers apologies to the students.
She says they failed in their responsibility to effectively communicate with students and show proper respect by asking students whether they were comfortable participating prior to the lesson.
A circle was held with all students in grades 4 to 7 to apologize, prior to the letter being sent.
