A Coast Mountain College campaign to end the stigma and normalize conversations around mental health now has a logo.
Designed by Statsi Naziel, a two-spirited Wet’suwet’en – Chilean artist, the logo was chosen from a number of submissions from across the North.
Naziel, who has battled with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and depression, created the logo while in hospital recovering from a mental health crisis.
Naziel’s logo features two eagles, representative of mania and depression, emerging from a brain with a DNA strand, to represent Naziel’s journey with schizophrenia.
This month, the College launched their first End Stigma Month to normalize conversations around mental health through a variety of events and engagements.
Their new logo will be featured on t-shirts, tote bags, and stickers, along with the words “End the Stigma, Mental Health Matters.:
Those items will be distributed to students free of charge to spread the message.
