School District 82 Looking to Expand Grade Coverage of Thornhill Primary and Elementary Schools

School District 82 is floating the idea of altering which grades are covered by the Thornhill Primary and Elementary Schools.

Currently, the Primary School covers Kindergarten to Grade 3, while Thornhill Elementary handles Grades 4 to 6.

Under the proposed changes, the Primary School would add coverage for Grade 4 students, while the Elementary School would also cover Grade 3 students.

According to the Coast Mountains School District, the changes would allow flexibility to balance student enrolment in Grades 3 and 4.

They say the changes would be imposed using an “as needed” approach, with enrolment projections determining the need each year.

However, before they impose the changes, the District is seeking feedback from the public.
