For the second time this month, the District of Wells is welcoming a new councillor… sort of.
Following a judicial recount held on Friday, Shannon McDonagh will be taking the council seat initially won by John Aitken.
Aitken was elected as councillor, alongside Dorothea Funk and Jennifer Lewis, following an election held on February 5th.
During the initial election, both Aitken and McDonagh drew in 45 of 120 votes cast.
Following the tie, the two drew lots and Aitken was determined to be the winner.
However, the draw was determined to be invalid, and a second draw was held on Friday, with McDonagh emerging the winner.
Each of the new council members were sworn in on Tuesday, along with new mayor Ed Coleman.
All will take part in the District’s next council meeting on March 22nd.
