Reconciliation will take centre stage when northwest leaders gather for a meeting hosted by the province next month.
That meeting will focus on better explaining the government’s approach to reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples.
Planned for March 10th, the meeting seeks to clarify their Reconciliation plans, but also to gather opinions and suggestions.
Those suggestions will be used to form a Skeena Roundtable as a way to share information and build awareness about reconciliation, and resource activities in the northwest.
In 2019, the province passed their Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
Since then, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous residents have been asking questions regarding how the government actually intends to move forward with Reconciliation.
