A public hearing being held in Terrace tonight will decide the future use of the former Evergreen Pub.
Earlier this year, the owner of the lot, located at 5430 Highway 16, requested a change in permitted uses for the property.
Currently, the lot is zoned C3, which allows for commercial uses such as retail outlets, hotels, restaurants, pubs, and more.
But, the owner is asking the city to allow for both a technical consulting firm, and laboratory and research facilities.
According to the owner, the location, last used for Mumford’s Pub in 2020, can no longer sustain a business model under the C3 designation.
Terrace City council gave a bylaw amendment to allow the use without a rezoning first and second readings in January.
Now, a public hearing to move the proposal further is set for 7:00 this evening at City Hall.
