In honour of International Women’s Day, the National Aboriginal Capital Corporations Association are launching a new program.
Alongside 32 of their Aboriginal Financial Institutions, they will begin offering the Indigenous Women Entrepreneurship Program.
Through the program, they aim to connect Indigenous women with the supports needed to succeed by providing training, resources and capital, and by reducing barriers to success.
AFIs already deliver workshops to more than 300 Indigenous women across Canada through the Women’s Entrepreneurship Strategy Ecosystem Fund.
In 2020, the NACCA committed to increasing the number of Indigenous women accessing funding through AFIs by 50 percent.
According to their most recent annual report, 30 percent of supported businesses are owned by Indigenous women, with 24 percent fully owned.
