Northern Health is taking a defiant Prince George nightclub to court in yet another attempt to shut it down.
Yesterday, the Health Authority filed a civil lawsuit, and injunction request, against the Lambda Cabaret Nightclub.
That suit follows numerous attempts to close down the club after it has consistently ignored Covid restrictions and public health mandates.
In late January, the club received its first order requiring it to close for violating public health orders, but it was later fined for ignoring that order.
In February, videos posted to social media showed multiple health order violations, including: unmasked patrons, and for allowing dancing and serving alcohol without food, while both were prohibited.
They were again issued an order to close down on February 9th, which was once again ignored once more, resulting in the suspension of the club’s liquor license.
On February 17th, provincial restrictions on nightclubs were loosened, and the club re-opened once more.
However, police attended the club the following day to find unmasked patrons, and no one checking for vaccine cards.
Again, the club was ordered to shut down, which it again ignored, even boasting of having zero mandates online.
Now, the Authority is seeking an injunction order, which would allow RCMP to arrest and remove patrons, should the club open against orders once more.
