Earlier today, the province announced they will be launching a three-year roadmap for revitalizing provincial tourism, creating jobs and opportunities for people and communities across BC.
This renewed Strategic Framework for Tourism looks to help the tourism industry recover from the pandemic by outlining a roadmap to get the industry back to it’s 2019 levels of business by 2024.
BC will be investing $1 million dollars into event-bid preparation and sponsorships, to go along with the $8 million being invested by the government to jump-start business travel.
In addition, a $2 million investment is being made into post-secondary education and training for students looking to join the business, following recommendations from the Tourism Task Force.
Under that program, students who are Indigenous, immigrants, or refugees will be prioritized, as well as those from remote communities, and those with accessibility issues.
All of this is on top of an annual investment of $6 million in Destination BC through 2024.
