Cricket players in Terrace are rallying the City to provide a proper and permanent place to play.
During a presentation to council, Sukhjinder Singh and Simran Mann asked the City for a place to play and funds for a 22 yard pitch.
In order to provide adequate bounce, that pitch must be made out of cement, and would cost an estimated $8,000 to $10,000.
In addition to the pitch an adequate grass or turf field, preferably of an ovular design with a 65 yard radius, was also requested.
Currently, the estimated 60 cricket players in the community are playing on a concrete parking lot in town.
According to the delegation, that group has grown from just 16 in recent years, and will continue to grow.
Council, while optimistic over the proposal, voted to send it to city staff to look in to the viability of the plan.
