12 new affordable on reserve rental homes have just been made available for members of the Heiltsuk Nation.
These new homes were created thanks to a partnership between Indigenous Services Canada, BC Housing and the Heiltsuk Nation.
These homes are a part of two six-unit wood-frame buildings that have a mix between 2 and 3 bedroom homes and the buildings will be located on Campbell Island near Bella Bella.
The Nation will own the homes as they are the ones who provided the land but the Heiltsuk Housing Society will oversee how the buildings operates.
$10 million in funding was provided by the province, through BC Housing, for the project and the province will also be providing $320,000 in annual operating funding.
