A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the Ahousaht First Nation and the province of BC.
That agreement looks to advance reconciliation with the Nation through respect, co-operation, partnership, and recognition of their rights.
Under the MoU, the parties will develop a path forward that recognizes Ahousaht culture, and the profound impact colonization has had on their lands.
Through the agreement, the parties aim to strengthen Ahousaht governance, focusing on language and culture, community infrastructure and housing, health and social development, resource management, and economic development.
